Black Eyed Susan, Rudbeckia hirta, growing in a moist, partially shaded area next to willows lining the ditch feeding Rampart Reservoir, Colorado. Hirta means hairy.

Cutleaf Coneflower, Rudbeckia lacinata, likes moist areas. This specimen is growing on the margin of a marshy area of old beaver ponds in Guaje Canyon in the Jemez Mountains of New Mexico at an elevation of 8,700 feet. Aconitum columbianum (monkshood) is growing nearby.
