Aristata means long bristle tip. This specimen was growing on a rather disturbed road shoulder adjacent to the entrance of Bandalier National Monument, New Mexico at an elevation of 6,600 Feet.

Red Dome Blanketflower, Giillardia pinnatifida, growing on gravel slopes east of GrapeCreek, Colorado, 5,580 Feet, June 2, 2007. Plant is 29 cm. tall. Leaves are basal and stem, lenth 50 mm, width 17 mm., pinnately divided. Flower width is 38 mm., ray length 13 mm.
